It's beginning to feel a lot like the like the holidays. And before this weekend is over it will be looking like it around town too. The Summit is set to light its Christmas Tree on Saturday. That will be after a big Holiday Farmer's Market there. The Wild Women Artists are in town for their annual holiday art show at the May Museum, the VSA will hold its Jingles with Art and History at the Lake Mansion on Saturday and you can meet the Turkeys…live ones…at the Rancho San Rafael Ranch House. Enjoy!

St. Vincent's Feeding Families Food Drive 11 AM:

Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN) is currently collecting holiday food donations for our annual Feeding Families food drive. Every year, nonprofit groups across Northern Nevada provide local families in need with holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is filling in the gaps by collecting food to distribute to hungry people in between the holiday season when food is scarce.

Food items being collected include:
-Frozen hams and turkeys
-Boxed stuffing mix
-Instant mashed potatoes
-Canned cranberry sauce
-Bread and rolls
-Canned vegetables and fruit
-Custard, pudding and desserts…


Wild Women Art Show noon Wilbur May Museum:

Women Artists are exploring the edge of the unknown in their fall 2012 art show and sale. 10 Wild Women Artists are taking part in "Beyond Wild" at the Wilbur D. May Museum, along with five new guest artists. The event showcases a variety of artisan creations including metal sculpture, basketry, paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and more. The Wild Women Artists is a collective of mixed media artists from Northern Nevada and California. The group comes together for only two shows each year – a spring show in Elko and a fall show in Reno.


16th Annual Banner Awards Atlantis Friday 6 PM:

The Builders Association of Northern Nevada will honor the best in the building industry at the 16th Annual BANN-ER Awards Friday, November 16, 2012 at Atlantis Hotel Casino. This red carpet themed event will salute the best in innovation, creativity and strategy. The evening will begin with cocktails and networking from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Dinner and awards will begin at 7:30 pm. The cost of the event is $75 per person, which includes awards, dinner & dancing.

Bruka Nutcracker the Zombie Apocalypse  8 PM:

Back by popular demand Buttcracker IV – Zombie Apocalypse fills the community with a ridiculous holiday comedy beginning Nov. 16 and playing through Dec. 21. Brüka dances its pants off in this high-octane parody based on the holiday favorite The Nutcracker. This eclectic, hilarious and original performance experience is laced with Brüka's exciting theatrical style and features favorites from the past 3 productions.

BoboFest 2012 Reno Sparks Convention Center/ Warran Miller's Film

At the Reno Events Center  Friday, Saturday and Sunday not only are they stocked to the gills with equipment it's a complete ski and board trade show and will feature Warren Miller's Film "Flow State"

Carson High School's 18th Annual Craft Fair 9-4 at the high school

9-4 at the Carson High School all proceeds go to support Carson High School student groups.



Unearthing Nevada's History: Historical Society 2 pm

Local author, Maggy Anthony will be giving a lecture, reading and booksigning of her newly printed paperback called Death is a Crap Shoot set in Reno during the 1950s.


VSA Jingles with Art and History

Lake Mansion 10-2

It's a crafts fair and crafts workshop all in one. At the Lake Mansion, the Very Special Arts open to kids of all ages and kids can even pose for photos with Santa.


Summit Tree Lighting 6:30 PM

It's the ending of a long day celebrating the arrival of the holidays at the Summit.

Not only will the tree be lit but there will be fireworks, music and the arrival of Santa.



 Holiday Farmer's market at the Summit from 10 AM-6PM

Not only crafts, jewelry, holiday foods and specialty food items for the holidays, but the McQueen and Galena High School Choirs will be caroling too.  




Meet the Turkeys Family Open House  Rancho San Rafael   10-3 Saturday

A family-friendly open house form 10-3 on Saturday in the Main Ranch House. There will be turkeys there…a scavenger hunt, arts projects, food, and oh, did I mention live turkeys. And…it's Free.



Chemistry of the Cocktail Fundraiser/ Discovery Museum 6 PM Discovery Museum

Join us for an exciting event to benefit The Discovery! Chemistry of the Cocktail pairs hands-on mixology demonstrations with delectable fare from local favorites. Add to that clever art projects, a feverish raffle and an exciting live auction and you've got a recipe for a stirring evening.

Dennis Miller 8 pm Silver Legacy 8 PM

Dennis Miller became a household name thanks to his years on TV's Saturday Night Live and was a writer and host of the "Weekend Update" news segment, where he polished his comedy/commentary shtick of satiric punch lines and obscure cultural references.

TMCC student center hurricane Sandy Relief  4-8 PM

Fundraiser from 4-8 pm at the student center. All proceeds go to the  American Red Cross
