A 9-month-old black pit bull that was the subject of a search since early this morning was captured this afternoon and is being transported to Washoe County Regional Animal Services on Longley Lane, according to Animal Services Director Barry Brode.

"Throttle" the pit bull was located in the area of Kirman Avenue and Plumb Lane at about 2:30 p.m. after escaping from an apartment complex in the 3400 block of South Virginia Street Thursday morning.

The dog was considered unpredictable and displayed signs of aggression according to the Animal Control Officer who originally responded to a call this morning involving an incident where a dog bit its owner.

The Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, and Washoe County School Police Department assisted with the search.

"To our knowledge, no injuries occurred while the dog was loose," Brode said. "I'm glad this came to a resolution without incident and appreciate everyone's support and participation."

Deputies say the dog was microchipped and examined to confirm its identity.
