Reno Police Serve Warrant in Hit-and-Run Accident

Posted: Updated:

Reno police say they tried to serve a warrant for the person of interest involved in last week's hit-and-run accident near the Peppermill Casino.

But when officers arrived at a residence on Arlington looking for 21-year-old Tyler Cowan, he was not there, and neither was anyone else.

Neighboring roads were shut down as a precaution but are back open now.

The accident happened near the intersection of South Virginia Street and Hubbard Way just before midnight Wednesday.

Vehicle parts left at the scene led police to Cowan's car – a 1999 Buick Regal.

Police say Cowan may be involved in that accident where two pedestrians were hit in the crosswalk and had to be taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

If you have any information you are being asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411. They are offering a $1,000 reward.
