The PlumGate Merchants Association is collecting donations through November 30 for two local nonprofit organizations: Nevada Youth Empowerment Project and Black Bear Project.
These organizations provide a home and a hand-up to homeless teens to develop independent living skills. Items needed include nonperishable food, toiletries, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, AAA batteries, towels, new comforters, twin sheet sets, shower curtains, food processor, bus passes, yard tools and a computer.
Drop off donations at Allstate Insurance, D's Sweet Cheeks, LoDo Loft, Adlington Eye Center and Eye Glass Gallery, Paper Moon and Core4Personal Training, all in the PlumGate Center at 550 W. Plumb Lane.
Both of these organizations focus on our homeless teens, including those that have aged out of foster care; sadly, they age out of care at the age of 18 regardless of whether they have a place to go or whether they have the ability to support themselves and be healthy, productive contributors to our society.
Each provides a stable, supportive home environment providing:
