Power Outages Reported Throughout Sparks

NV Energy says about 400 Sparks customers remain without power in the neighborhoods near Truckee Lane and Northwood. Power should be fully restored to that area by about 4pm today.

The outage happened around 10:45am and initially affected 5,800 customers around the McCarran/Pyramid area to the highway. A wire on a line came loose around 10:45am causing the outage.

Police want to remind residents not to call 911 unless you have a life-threatening emergency.


A strong area of low pressure and a very cold front associated with it will be moving through the area the next couple of days!

There's a High Wind Warning & Red Flag Warning today, winds gusting to 50-60 mph. Wind gusts up to 80mph in wind prone areas like Galena and Washoe Valley.

Temperatures will be falling all day with 40s by early evening and low 30s by Friday morning.

The snow level drops to the valley floors by Friday morning, little accumulations expected but there could be several inches of lake effect snow around Tahoe and Pyramid Lakes. Mountains could see a foot of snow by Friday morning, travel over the passes will be difficult. Highs only in the 30s Friday & Saturday!
