Paul Ryan Holds Campaign Rally in Reno

Posted: Updated:

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan visited the Reno-Sparks Convention Center on Thursday afternoon.

The Wisconsin Congressman touched upon many topics including superstorm Sandy and urged supporters to make a donation to the American Red Cross.

At one point, Ryan asked the crowd if Americans will vote for President Obama by default. ‘No!' they yell back. …"We don't need a new bureaucrat to run this country. We need a new president named Mitt Romney."

And he stressed Nevada's importance to this election. "We are asking for your help Nevada...for your vote and help to get us back on track in this country because Mitt Romney and I won't run away from this country's problems. We will run at them and not away."

There were close to a thousand people there to cheer on the Republican ticket. Ryan made it clear to them that he and Romney can take whatever the Democrats can dish out in the next 5 days, but said the country can't take four more years of Obama.

And they loved it.

"I loved what he says and everybody needs to get out and vote early," says Brenda Long.

"Oh, I think he's amazing. He has great ideas and he and Mitt Romney have the ability to bring people together to the middle and his ideas are fiscally intelligent," says Jeffrey Loftin.

Ryan plans a private visit Thursday evening with campaign workers and volunteers at Romney's Las Vegas headquarters.

Mitt Romney continues to attack President Obama's business policies, including his suggestion to MSNBC this week that he would create a secretary of business. Romney told a crowd in Virginia that the nation needs a president who understands business -- not a secretary of business.

Meanwhile, President Obama spoke near the College of Southern Nevada's Cheyenne campus in North Las Vegas where he was joined by actress Eva Longoria from "Desperate Housewives."
