Carson City Deputies Injured During Incident With Intoxicated Man

Posted: Updated:

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is investigating after several deputies were injured during an incident with an intoxicated man Friday evening.

Sheriff Ken Furlong tells Channel 2 News that deputies responded to Lee Street on a report of an intoxicated man.

When officers approached the man, he started to fight with deputies. The incident was continued to the intersection of Long and Roop streets. It took several deputies on scene to stop the unidentified man, who was hard to subdue.

Even after the man was restrained, Sheriff Furlong says the man still was aggressive. A medic on scene sedated him and he was later taken to custody. Sheriff Furlong says investigators are determining what made the man so aggressive.

Sheriff Furlong says some of the deputies received scrapes and bruises from the incident, while another deputy was taken to the hospital with a possible broken hand.

Charges remain pending.
