Local Non-Profit Helps Parolees, Veterans Find Work

Posted: Updated:

Helping "at-risk" northern Nevadans re-enter the workforce could earn you $10,000.

The "My Journey Home" program is designed to help newly released parolees and - now also veterans find work.

Within the last year, the non-profit helped about 2,000 people at no cost to taxpayers and no cost to the client.

Support groups and various counseling opportunities are also free, which is why Executive Director Elaine Voigt says the program is successful.

"If they need to pay for them - they need a job. If they don't have a job - they can't pay for it and then they violate and go back to prison and that starts the revolving door."

"My Journey Home" relies on donations to help these folks so, they've organized a $10,000 lottery.

You can buy a $100 ticket. They're only selling 200.

The winning ticket will be pulled at an event on November 17th at the Peppermill Casino.

There will be plenty of door prizes there, too.

To buy tickets, call 825-8126.

Or you can buy lottery tickets and watch success story videos online.
