Spirits of days gone by will be summoned to haunt the streets of historic Truckee, CA during the adults-only Historical Haunted Tour on Friday, Oct. 19.
The much loved annual walking tour features tales of yore with a memorable and entertaining twist at Truckee's historic gems and watering holes. The spooky walking tour begins with a glass of wine, interesting characters and a prize packed raffle at Moody's Bistro.
The Historical Haunted Tour, a fundraiser for Trails & Vistas and the Truckee Donner Historical Society, has raised more than $15,000 for the two nonprofits.
Event begins at 5:30 p.m. and guided tours depart every 15 minutes
Adventure Maps to Murder at the Wilbur D May Museum
Put your detective skills to the test at the Habitat for Humanity's 2nd annual Murder Mystery. The event includes a theatrical production put on by local actors, appetizers, cocktails, and a silent auction. All of the proceeds from the event will go directly to Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for local, low income families. $25.00 per person.

Oct. 20: Putting your Garden to Bed – Jim Stanton will explain what you should and should not do in your landscape to prepare for winter as well as during the coming winter months. Because critters can wreak havoc during the winter if you are not prepared, Jim will discuss how to protect your lawn and plants from deer, voles, rabbits, insects and diseases.
The Reno Philharmonic is proud to present this year's family show: Sergey Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf," op. 67. The performance will be FREE and open to the public. A young boy Peter, a wolf, and a host of characters are each represented by a specific instrument in the orchestra, acquainting listeners with instrumental color while entertaining them with a fantastic story. Doors open at 9:00 AM with a host of pre-concert, hands-on activities for kids (and the young at heart).

Discover the Music of the Night while the Sorcerer's Apprentice will teach numerous spells to fight off the beasts of Narnia. You'll need to know those spells, too, when the orchestra awakens the demons on Bald Mountain.
Truly a night of mysteries! Magician Will Mehm will amaze you with magic; flutist Paul Novak will enchant you with a concerto by Chaminade; and children from the audience will be invited on stage to sit amidst the music.

Sunday, Oct. 21 is the day to celebrate all things pumpkin, when the Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living kicks off PumpkinPalooza 2012.
From noon to 7pm in Victorian Square, families will be able to:
• Build and race a pumpkin in the Pumpkin Derby • Participate in the children's costume parade • Enjoy storytelling on the ghost train • Play carnival style games • Compete in the pie-eating, pumpkin seed spitting, and mummy wrapping contests • Enter their pumpkins in the beauty contest • Enjoy live music • Finish their day with the official Lighting of the Pumpkins!
