Family, Friends Welcome Home Soldier From Afghanistan

Posted: Updated:

After nine months apart, a Reno family finally got to welcome their soldier back home. U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Sgt. Jacob Rousseau returned from Afghanistan.

"I told her I didn't want a lot of people here. I thought it was just her, but she got me. She surprised me."

More than 50 friends and family were in the Reno-Tahoe International Airport Thursday to greet their soldier.

Sgt. Rousseau was certainly surprised as he hugged folks one-by-one that included his mother Marlene.

She says her boy is more humble after serving in Afghanistan. And she couldn't be happier to finally have him back where he belongs.

"I just have all kinds of crazy emotions. I feel blessed, I feel proud, emotional. This is a great day for me and my family."

Marlene says the family will be celebrating through the weekend.

After that, Sgt. Rousseau says he's going to relax on the couch for about two weeks.

His brother, Jordan also served one year in Iraq with the U.S. Army, but since he was wounded he couldn't have a big welcome home.
