Heller, Berkley Battle Over Middle Class at Debate

Posted: Updated:

Republican Sen. Dean Heller and Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley accused each other of hurting the middle class during their third debate.

Heller and Berkley faced off Monday night in the hour-long debate, which was staged on the show of political commentator Jon Ralston. The first half was televised live, with the second half scheduled to air Tuesday night.

Berkley is a seven-term congresswoman from Las Vegas. Heller attacked her ties to a business buying troubled Nevada homes and for being the subject of a House Ethics Committee investigation.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/TpttwU ) Berkley targeted Heller's votes supporting tax subsidies for big oil companies.

Heller was appointed last year to fill the term of Sen. John Ensign after he resigned in a sex scandal.
