Vice President Biden Speaks at Reno Ballroom

Posted: Updated:

Vice President discussed jobs, last night's debates, jobs and opponent Mitt Romney's stances on taxes during a speech in Reno Wednesday.

He told a crowd of about 500 at a convention ballroom in downtown Reno he's confident if they win Nevada they'll retain the White House.

Biden says Republican Mitt Romney wants to return to the same GOP policies of shredding government regulations, letting Wall Street bankers make their own rules and giving massive tax cuts to the wealthy. He says the last time that happened, nine million jobs were lost. He says no state suffered more than Nevada as a consequence.

On the debates he said, "Hey. How 'bout that president last night. That's the guy I know, that's my guy. It's an honor to work with him, I think you saw the man last night that I've seen everyday for the past four years. Full of passion, spunk, courage. I tell you what that's a man with a steady hand, clear vision. He knows what he's about and he's standing up and saying it."

Meanwhile, President Obama told a political rally at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa that  Mitt Romney won't reveal details about how to pay for his proposed 20% cut in tax rates.

He ridiculed Romney's five-point economic plan as a "sketchy deal" that boils down to helping the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.

The president says that when politicians say they will wait to explain plans until after the election, "they don't have a pleasant surprise in store for you."

Playing off a Romney response during Tuesday's presidential debate, Obama says that when it comes to recruiting new math and science teachers "we don't have to collect a bunch of binders to find qualified, talented, driven young women."

And - Mitt Romney says President Obama has failed America's women.

The Republican nominee told supporters in Virginia on Wednesday that women have suffered through high unemployment and high poverty rates during Obama's term. Romney says he has a better plan to help them.

Romney's push to broaden his appeal came a day after he faced off against Obama in the second presidential debate.

Both candidates are courting women voters.

During the debate, Romney highlighted the number of women who served in his administration when he was governor of Massachusetts.

Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan campaigned in Ohio.

He panned President Obama's performance during last night's debate, and praised his running mate's. "We saw a president not offer a single idea or a lesson learned from the failures of the last four years. But what we saw in Governor Mitt Romney was a leader who has the solutions."

Ryan was joined by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who remains popular with Republicans.

Rice said supports the Romney-Ryan ticket because she wants to see prosperity return to this country.

With just 20 days left until the election, polls show an extremely tight race nationally. (AP)
