The Nevada Seismological Laboratory reports about 115 very small earthquakes have hit the northern Spanish Springs area since October 8th.
Officials with the laboratory say the largest quake they recorded was at a magnitude-1.0. They say these earthquakes have been happening at about 5-8 miles below the surface and are probably too small to be felt.
Officials say although these are very small quakes, there is the possibility that this activity may lead to larger earthquakes in the area.
The Nevada Seismological Laboratory says people should take steps to prepare for potentially damaging earthquakes.

The laboratory is also encouraging parents to teach their children to "drop, cover and hold on". Officials are asking everyone to participate in the annual "Nevada Great ShakeOut" that's part of an international earthquake safety drill on October 18th at 10:18 a.m.
