Pack Drops Five-Set Contest to Boise State

The University of Nevada volleyball team drove Boise State to the edge of defeat on Saturday night, only to fall to the Broncos 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10) in five sets.

 Nevada fell to 4-16 (1-6 MW) with the loss, while Boise State improved to 11-10 (3-3 MW) with the win.

 Tessa Lea'ea drove the Wolf Pack attack with 18 kills on 35 attacks, posting a .371 hitting percentage. In two matches this week, the red-shirt sophomore posted 33 kills on 58 attacks while committing only five errors. She also notched six assisted blocks against Boise State.

 Taylar Rothfuss stepped into the setter role for the Pack, starting her first career match and posting 44 assists, eight digs and three service aces.

Up 2-1, Nevada fell in sets four and five, falling to 3-3 in five-set matches in 2012.

 Kelly Chang and Kara Kasser tied for the Nevada lead with 11 digs each on Saturday night. Janelle Batista had 10 kills and two assisted blocks in the defeat.

 Nevada will return to Reno for three consecutive matches, taking on New Mexico at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Virginia Street Gym to begin the home stand.
