The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident in Pershing County Saturday afternoon.
Troopers say it happened around 4 p.m. on Interstate-80, about 7 miles east of Lovelock, near mile marker 112.
They say an initial investigation indicates 52-year old Jeffrey Loy from Reno was traveling west on I-80 when his 2001 Chevrolet pick-up truck drifted into the dirt median. The truck traveled through the median and vaulted over an uphill embankment, and kept going through the median until it finally came to rest.
Troopers say when emergency responders arrived on scene, Loy was found dead in the truck. He was wearing his seatbelt.
At this time, troopers believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
