Washoe County Commissioners Seek Applicants For Library Board of Trustees

Posted: Updated:

The Board of Washoe County Commissioners is currently seeking applications for two positions on the Library Board of Trustees. Application deadline is October 19.

The Library Board of Trustees appoints the Library Director and evaluates his or her performance, helps set Library goals and objectives, approves policies, monitors the Library's finances, evaluates the Library's overall effectiveness and advocates for the Library in the community.

Individuals interested in serving on the Board of Trustees must be residents of Washoe County and cannot be elected office-holders. They should be aware of the Library's role in the community as a center of information, culture, recreation and lifelong learning. Trustees must also be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to perform the duties of Trustees, including preparing for and attending all Board meetings, which are normally held on the third Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. Terms of service for the two positions run through June 30, 2014 and June 30, 2015, respectively, and the individuals appointed to these positions would also each be eligible to serve an additional four-year term.

Additional information and an online application are available via the Washoe County website at http://www.washoecounty.us/citizens/vacancies.html, under the "L" listings.

To learn more about serving as a Trustee and completing the application process, contact Library Director Arnie Maurins at 327-8341 or amaurins@washoecounty.us.
