City of Reno Looking for Holiday Tree Donation

Posted: Updated:

The City of Reno is looking for its annual Christmas tree that will stand at City Plaza through the holidays. The preferred tree is an evergreen (giant sequoia), at least 40 feet tall, symmetrical in appearance, and accessible for removal.

The tree selected will be professionally removed by the City of Reno Urban Forestry Division from the donor's property, saving the donor hundreds of dollars in tree removal costs. The tree will be removed before November 5th and placed at City Plaza, 10 North Virginia Street, located near City Hall in Downtown Reno. The donor will be publicly recognized and thanked by city officials at the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

This year's Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will be held Tuesday, November 20th at 5 p.m. It will be followed by the opening of the Rink on the River and a community skate night. After the holiday season ends, City of Reno staff will recycle the tree.

For more information or if you have a tree on your property you wish to have removed and donated, please call Steve Churchillo, Urban Forester at 321-8373.
