President Obama, Mitt Romney Prepare for Wednesday's Debate

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says some people might be focused on who has the best "zingers" in his first debate with Republican Mitt Romney on Wednesday.

But President Obama says he's focused on having a serious discussion about the nation's future. He is staying in Southern Nevada as he prepares for the debate.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says Republican Mitt Romney is going to do "extraordinarily well" Wednesday in his first debate with President Barack Obama.

Christie tells CBS' "Face the Nation" that after the face-to-face meeting, "this whole race is going to be turned upside down."

But Romney's running mate isn't so sure. Vice Presidential Nominee Paul Ryan says, "I don't think one event is going to make or break this campaign."
