SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- A woman wanted by police in Northern California for allegedly using her 10-year-old daughter to shoplift groceries and then leaving her behind has been arrested in Nevada.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that Marcy Keelin was arrested Friday night at a motel near Fernley, Nevada after a sheriff's deputy spotted her SUV.

The 38-year-old Keelin has been wanted since Sept. 19 when police say she had her daughter roll a shopping cart with about $150 worth of groceries out of a Morgan Hill Safeway store

Police say when the daughter was stopped by store employees, Keelin drove away.

At the time of her arrest, Keelin was with her 11-month-old son and a man who was not arrested.

Morgan Hill police Sgt. Troy Hoefling says Keelin lives in Wyoming, but was staying in Morgan Hill for the summer with her daughter to visit relatives.
