Man Accused of Stalking Teen Girl in Douglas County
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man suspected of stalking a teenage girl.
Deputies were dispatched to the 7-11 on Tillman Lane in the Gardnerville Ranchos for a call of a man following a juvenile female on Wednesday afternoon. When deputies arrived at the scene, they confirmed the incident with the 17-year-old girl.
She told deputies she had been washing her car at the Rancho's Car Wash on Kimmerling Road, when the man pulled up in a green car and tried to get her attention. She says he was a Hispanic man, and he was nodding his head and honking his horn at her. She says she waved him off, to indicate for him to leave her alone. But she told deputies he would not go away.
The teen called 911, drove to the 7-11 on Tillman and went inside. The man drove up to the store and stopped near the gas pumps. The store clerk then approached the man and he drove away.
Deputies were able to obtain a partial license plate of the man's green car, which led them to a home in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
They arrested 24-year-old Edgar Oronia-Camacho. Detectives say he may have committed a similar act that same day, with a 16-year-old victim. Oronia-Camacho was the suspect of a similar incident in 2010, although there was insufficient evidence in that incident to bring a charge against him.
Oronia-Camacho is currently being held in the Douglas County Minden Jail on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says anyone who has been subject to a similar incident with a suspect vehicle description to contact them immediately at (775) 782-9905.
