The sound of rumbling motorcycles began filling the streets of Reno and Sparks on Wednesday.
The 18th annual Street Vibrations Fall Rally is underway, and will be in town through Sunday.
"I like Reno. It's a nice little town," says Gary Olsen, visiting from Las Vegas. "I like the fact that they open it up to bikers."
Some of the folks in downtown Reno were seasoned veterans of Street Vibrations, while others were first-timers checking things out before everything really get going later this week.
"This was one of the things on my bucket list, actually," says Minnie Watson, also visiting from Las Vegas. "So, this is my first time. I've been looking forward to it for quite awhile."
At John Ascuaga's Nugget, everybody was preparing for the big crowds sure to show up later in the week. Especially the vendors, who see big business at Street Vibrations every year.
"I like the west coast weather," says Dave Del Maestro. "You always get nice days like this. Everybody enjoys riding and can stay outside all night."
Of course, last year's deadly shooting is still on the minds of some folks in attendance. Which some bikers say, has unfortunately added a stigma to the event.
"Everybody says 'hey, you going to go up there and witness a murder this year?'," says Chris Meagher, visiting from the Bay Area. "I say no, I'm going to go up there and have a good time. That's what I'm going to do."
Because of that shooting between two rival biker clubs, riders are not allowed to wear their club colors, or vests with club patches at any of the events. Changes most bikers tell us they are thrilled to see put in place.
"They're the one percent that ruined it for the 99," says Meagher. "But the 99 this year takes a stand, said no colors, no weapons. Let's follow suit."
In all, this five day event is expected to bring in upwards of $56 million to our local economy.
