Monday is the 225th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia and today students at Truckee Meadows Community College learned more about it.
KTVN's Wendy Damonte moderated a panel at TMCC where the political science department held its annual Constitution Day panel to discuss the document.
Political scientists say studying the Constitution can help students learn about their rights. "I think it's important for people to understand their rights. You have to understand the constitution so you know how to protect your rights," says political science professor Dr. Paul Davis.
The American Constitution is the oldest still enforced today, as well as one of the shortest.
The University of Nevada also held a Constitution Day celebration.
