Congressional lawmakers are returning to work today, following a five-week summer recess.
With just 57 days to go until Election Day, they're not expected to get a whole lot done during the short fall session.
But one measure is expected to pass relatively soon--
A short-term continuing resolution to fund federal agencies.
Republican and Democratic leaders struck a deal on a six-month bill over the summer.
But both chambers still need to pass the legislation before government funding expires at the end of this month.
Meantime, it's possible GOP and Democratic lawmakers could also come to agreement on a farm bill aimed at reforming agriculture programs and providing relief to states suffering from drought.
One of the bills expected that likely won't be renewed, is the Violence Against Women Act. (CNN)
