Governor Brian Sandoval and Reno Mayor Bob Cashell were among the dignitaries on hand for the opening of a building that has been under construction since last year.
Along with providing more than 200 construction jobs, Urban Outfitters new 450,000 square foot internet fulfillment center will also create dozens of permanent jobs.
Company officials told us Thursday this center will better serve its web customers in California. "One of the things that's ideal is getting to our customers and our stores in California. Northern California in a day and southern California in two days. Our California web customers represent about 18% of our business," director of logistics Ken McKinney explained.
Construction of the center cost about $50 million and there are plans to almost double its size in the future.
The facility is the largest private industrial building completed in Nevada since 2009.
