The Sparks and Reno Police Departments, Nevada Highway Patrol and Washoe County Sheriff's Office will all have extra officers out on the streets starting Friday, September 7th through Sunday, September 16th.
It's part of a city wide enforcement campaign looking for speeders. More specifically, they'll be focused on speeding near schools now that the school year is underway.
Along with drivers, they'll also be watching pedestrians to make sure they're using crosswalks and avoiding distractions while crossing the street.
The Sparks Police Department says a speeding violation of one to ten miles over the speed limit will cost you $150 and a point on your driving record. In school zones, the minimum fine is $200 and violating the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk is a $150 fine and four points on your driving record.
