Posted: Updated:

The Regional Transportation Commission is offering $4 round trip rides to Rancho San Rafael for the 31st Annual Great Reno Balloon Race this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday RTC is offering rides from their Fourth Street Station Downtown, Reed High School in Sparks and Parking Lot C of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Parking is free at those locations and the bus rides are $2 for adults and $1 for seniors, youth and people with disabilities one-way.

The buses will be running from 4am to 10am Saturday and Sunday morning with buses leaving every 30 minutes.

To learn more visit rtcwashoe.com or call passenger services at (775) 348-RIDE.

If you'd rather drive yourself there are a few different options for parking. Here's that information from the Great Reno Balloon Race website:

Parking at Rancho San Rafael: There will be public parking available at Rancho San Rafael, managed by Reno South Rotary, for a $10 donation to the event. The lots are located on the corner of Sierra Street and McCarran Blvd. as well as on Coleman Street. These lots will get you a short walking distance away from the field.

Parking at UNR: If you don't mind walking a few blocks you can park for free at the University's north lots but remember that cars must be removed by 10 a.m. Parking will also be available at the corner of North Sierra Street and McCarran Boulevard and at the Coleman Street parking lot for a $10 donation. Sierra Street will be blocked off to anyone who does not have a handicap placard or parking pass on all three mornings of the event.

Handicapped Parking: As always handicapped parking is available at the event for those with a handicapped placard or license plate. Please go to any entrance of the park and you will be directed to a handicapped parking lot. If needed, volunteers with golf carts will be available to transport those unable to walk from the parking lot to the event site. Please be aware, there may be an extended wait time for an available golf cart depending on the number of those requesting assistance.

RV Information: In 2005, all vehicles including RVs were banned from parking on McCarran Blvd. due to safety concerns of The City of Reno and Police Department. Click here to read more about it.

Rancho San Rafael Park regulations prohibit overnight parking of vehicles/RVs, excluding security vehicles, during the event. For a list of RV parks in the area please go to the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority website or contact them at (800) 367-7366.
