The City of Reno rolled out a new feature on its website Tuesday. It lets you track how the City spends its money.
The Online Payroll Application is part of the City's "Open Government" page and is updated on a daily basis.
It lets anyone track exactly how much each city employee is paid in salary and benefits. The City says it's part of an ongoing effort to increase transparency in local government.
"There's been a lot of questions over the past few years over bond issues and other things so I think it's important that people have the ability to go out there and see where we're spending our money," city manager Andrew Clinger explained.
Clinger went on to say payroll is especially important because it makes up 85% of the city's budget.
The next step in the Open Government Initiative is to post contracts with private businesses online.
