Even though there's still a few weeks left Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, but there is still plenty for people to do.
Union soldiers are just one part of Virginia City's Labor Day parade, as people could take a trip back in time. Even an Abraham Lincoln look-alike was on hand as part of the Comstock Civil War re-enactment.
Chuck Kee came up to Virginia City to see his son participate for the Confederates.
"Great parade," Kee said. "A lot of variety of cars, floats, people see the re-enactors out here. The Union and Confederate. It's just fun."
The parade served as a nice surprise for one visitor from Boise, Idaho.
"We thought we would just take a little tour and I forgot about the parade and everything," Jeanne smith said. "So, this is kind of cool. We fell into it."
Of course, not everyone has the day off, like the Sparks Fire Department.
For the third straight year, the Olive Garden is providing a "hospitaliano" lunch to our first responders.
"We just want to say thank you for always being the First Responder to every disaster, in this area," Olive Garden General Manager Patrick Clancy said. "And it's been a rough couple of years."
"We're happy to be here and it's just nice to be so appreciated," Battalion Chief David Niehaus said.
As summer comes to a close, so does America's pastime. Today is the last game of the regular season for the Reno Aces.
"I have friends in town and we've been to the rib cook-off and we wanted to come celebrate our team for the last day of the season," Kelle Seely said.
"Perfect," Jennifer Martinez said. "Weather's great, end of the summer, school's starting for one of our kids, tomorrow."
This matinee game is also a chance for some kids to watch the boys of summer, one last time.
As for who will win the game, just ask them.
"Um, the guy with the bat," four-year-old Match Diehl said.
"I don't know because I don't know the score," youngster Ayden Howe said.
But it's not just the last day of the season.
It's also the last "Om Nom Nom Day" of the season with people stacking up on the $1 nachos.
"We will definitely be all over that," Lance Jauron said. "Obviously, I haven't missed a meal. We'll probably get a couple of them."
The Aces will also be back in town this Friday, in game three of their playoff series.
