Jazz All-Star Display Carson City 10 AM to 4 PM:
An exhibit of photos, album covers, and information about Jazz All-Stars of Northern Nevada, is on display at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop Street. The exhibit is part of Mile High Jazz Band's 2012 Jazz & Beyond - Carson City Music Festival. Although festival musical performances have ended, the exhibit will continue during library hours until Aug. 31.
The display features photographs of outstanding jazz musicians of northern Nevada taken by Carson City resident and jazz enthusiast Pat Glancy. It also includes a cornet, a bass guitar, and covers of record albums by great American jazz artists.

Spin Doctors 7pm Nugget:
This Grammy-nominated group won the American Music Award for Best New Song Act in 1994. They're best known for hits like "Two Princes," and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong."
More than 40 bands will play on multiple stages during the six-day Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off!
The bands will take the main stage during the event, which runs through Monday, Sept.3. No tickets are required, and people can enjoy the bands free of charge!

Rib Cook-Off John Ascuaga's Nugget:
24 rib cookers, more than a 100 tons of meat and a truck load of sauce: that's what's expected to draw a half million people to Victorian Square in Sparks this weekend. The Labor Day festival is in its 249th year.

Marilyn Monroe Exhibit at Art Source 10 am
Marilyn's Magic-Hot August Marilyn Monroe's 50th anniversary party.
Hundreds of photos including studio portraits, movie stills, cheesecake poses, revealing candids, movie cards and limited edition photos. They portray the star's life, career, moods and guises. Included is the famous nude calendar shot taken by Tom Kelley in 1949 and the last photo taken in 1962. Celebration prices range from $5 to $15,000.

Best Marilyn look alike wins a custom framed photo of the famous star valued at $600. All entrants will receive a gallery gift certificate.
The exhibit is being shown at Art Source, Nevada's largest gallery, in cooperation with The Children's Cabinet. The Children's Cabinet, established in 1985, exists to keep children safe and families together. They offer services and the resources that address unmet needs through a unique and effective cooperative effort between the private sector and public agencies in Northern Nevada.

Virginia City Civil War Days and Labor Day Parade
The Comstock Civil War Re-enactors will put on a show for locals and visitors that will feel like a step back in time this Labor Day Weekend. The Annual Civil War Days events include battles, tours of war camps and a parade down Main Street at noon on Monday followed by a gun battle in the streets.
