The Washoe County Health District says any child that is new to the school district has to get all of the state mandated immunizations before starting class.
"Hopefully, if the parents been on top of it, they should have had all these shots through four years of age to start school," said Washoe County Health District Program Coordinator Lynnie Shore. "This includes Pertussis, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, MMR and Polio."
Shore said there are plenty of places you can get your child's vaccinations.
She said many local pharmacies are now doing it and you can go down to the Washoe County Health District office as well.
Shore said before doing anything, check with your health care provider and see if they have any times available.
Before showing up for a vaccination, you must schedule an appointment.
Also, Shore told us there's one other shot you will want your child to get before starting school.
"Back to school is always fall time and what do we usually see in the fall? Flu season. So, in addition to getting their back to school shots, we encourage them to get a flu vaccination as well."
