Brian Robert Hobbs
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- A 28-year-old man faces up to life in prison for killing his girlfriend in Sparks and burying her in the backyard before digging her up and dumping her body in a Carson City ravine.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Brian Robert Hobbs pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder with a deadly weapon for the September death of Cherissa Davidson, a 29-year-old mother of three.
Hobbs will be sentenced next month by Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer.
Davidson's body was found Sept. 9 in Brunswick Canyon. She was identified by her fingerprints. When authorities went to her home they found Hobbs caring for her baby, who was not harmed.
Hobbs initially told police Davidson attacked him and she stabbed herself.
Investigators described the incident as a "frenzied attack."
