Police Investigate two hit and run accidents

Posted: Updated:

Police need your help finding a vehicle that struck a woman at about 12:30 this morning sending her to the hospital.

It happened on North Sierra Street near the entrance to the Rancho San Rafael Park.

The travel lanes were closed in the area for a few hours while deputies investigated.

Authorities say the victim is a 21- year old female. She was taken to an area hospital where her condition is unknown this morning.

Right now Sheriffs Deputies are looking for a light colored Jeep that fled the area after hitting the victim.

They say the vehicle was traveling at least 35 miles per hour.

But unfortunately that was not the only hit and run involving a pedestrian that police responded to this morning.

Less than an hour after the first accident a second one happened in front of the Circus Circus on Sierra Street in Reno.

Police say a man on a bicycle was traveling on Sierra Street when we has hit.

The driver of the vehicle took off after he hit the man. The victim suffered only minor injuries

Police are describing the vehicle in this case as a late 1990's model black Ford Explorer.

If you have information on either of these hit and run accidents you are being asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip at 847-411

As of last week, all of the snow has melted off of the Mount Rose Ski Resort area itself, but on Mount Rose proper, there are still some patches of snow left. What might seem like a small piece from afar could actually be deep enough to ski on.
