Semi-Truck Rolls Over on I-80, Spills Hazardous Materials

Caltrans says hazmat crews are cleaning up a hazardous spill left by an overturned semi-truck on I-80 near Boreal.

The accident happened on eastbound Interstate 80 at Soda Springs near Boreal on Donner Summit right before 11am Thursday.

Traffic is being rerouted to Donner Pass Road and Donner Lake Interchange. CHP says one lane is open to traffic - the roadway is expected to fully reopen later Thursday.

Authorities say the spill contains diesel fuel as well as potentially dangerous acid and other chemicals.

The driver was not hurt.
