Shelley Berkley and Dean Heller are traveling Nevada, touting their positions on Medicare and Social Security in their tight U.S. Senate race.
Democrat Berkley campaigned Thursday at a coffee house in Carson City, where she said the popular social programs were under attack by Heller and the Republican presidential ticket.
The seven-term Democratic congresswoman from Las Vegas tied her opponent to the Mitt Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Berkley called Ryan's budget plan "radical, ill-conceived" legislation that would harm seniors, the poor and the middle class.
Heller was campaigning at midday in Las Vegas with Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, a rising Republican star. The two were to campaign later in the day in Reno. (AP)
