The Washoe County Health District will join Immunize Nevada for a back-to-school immunization clinic to provide free shots for all children 0-18 years of age at the Legends Mall on Saturday, August 18, from 12 noon to 5 pm. Vaccinations will be administered on a first come first serve basis while vaccine supply lasts and time allows. Although parents are asked to bring their children's shots records with them, State of Nevada WebIZ staff will be on hand to assist in determining which vaccinations are required before students can be admitted to classes.
"In addition to the required vaccines for school admittance, we will also have other vaccines available that we recommend for all adolescents," said Lynnie Shore, R.N., immunization coordinator for the Washoe County Health District. "These include Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and meningococcal vaccines. There are a number of teens that got their first meningococcal shots at age 11 or 12 who are now 16 years-old or older and are in need of a booster shot. This will be a great opportunity to get that shot for free," added Shore.
