Last month readers for USA Today voted Lake Tahoe the best lake in the nation. And today the newspaper's travel writer explained why.

In her article, Laura Bly says though Tahoe can be crowded, it has the power to refresh someone like few other lakes in the country, and it's easy to see how its massive size and pristine beauty can attract crowds of thousands every summer.

She also writes about the challenge of keeping Tahoe's water's clear, and dealing with invasive species.

That's something that'll be discussed at the Tahoe Summit starting on Monday.
