BLM Announces Upcoming Wild Horse Roundup

The Bureau of Land Management has plans to begin gathering hundreds of wild horses in central Nevada next week.

The BLM is planning a roundup in the Desatoya Herd Management area, about 18 miles west of Austin in Lander County starting Thursday, August 16^th.

Federal officials plan to gather between 450 and 500 horses and release 127 back on the range after treating the mares with a contraceptive vaccine. The rest of the horses will be held in Palomino Valley north of Reno in preparation for adoption.
