Local representatives for President Obama's campaign held a press conference to discuss different tax plans between the two major candidates for President Thursday.
During the event, a member of the state AFL-CIO said only those who are in the top income tier in the country should support Mitt Romney's tax plan. "If you want somebody who's going to cut your taxes then vote for him. If you're not a millionaire then you better support President Obama because he'll take care of you and cares about the middle class," Danny Thompson said at Thursday's event.
The President's campaign went on to cite a recent report from the Tax Policy Center that said Romney's plan would cut taxes on the wealthy while raising taxes on 220,000 small businesses in Nevada.
A representative for Romney's Nevada campaign called that study partisan, because part of it was written by a former Obama administration aid.
Mason Harrison, Romney's Nevada campaign spokesman also sent this statement, "The only answer he has for his failed policies is to cite false and inaccurate studies and to raise taxes on millions of families, small businesses, and job creators. That is the last thing we should do in this economy. Mitt Romney has a plan for a stronger middle class that will lower tax rates across the board, cut the deficit, and get our economy growing again."
