Fighting Cancer With Lemonade

Posted: Updated:

This week you can help raise money for childhood cancer research, just by enjoying some refreshing lemonade.

Through Sunday, the Applebee's on Kietzke Lane in Reno and North McCarran in Sparks are donating a portion of every lemonade drink sold to the "Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation."

It was founded by a 4-year-old Alexandra Scott from Connecticut who wanted to raise money to cure cancer after being diagnosed herself.

Local radio stations KOZZ and Rock 104.5 broadcast from the restaurants today to help raise interest.

"People have been stopping by and asking more about what it is and giving money, a lady came up and tried to give me $2," says Martina Davis of Rock 104.5 FM.

The Applebee's on Kietzke Lane will also be staffing a lemonade stand in front of the nearby Walmart this weekend.
