Police Identify Victim from Central Reno Shooting

Reno Police have identified the woman killed in a shooting on Brinkby Avenue near Lakeside Drive early Wednesday morning. Police say the victim is 32-year-old Kellie Taitt.

Reno Police also learned there was at least one or more witnesses in the area at the time of the crime. If you know anything, please call the Reno Police Department at (775) 334-2188. You can also call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411. A $2,500 reward is being offered.

Police say the shooting happened sometime before 5:30am Wednesday on the 900 block of Brinkby Avenue near Lakeside Drive.

Police say when they arrived, they found Taitt in the driveway with multiple gunshot injuries. REMSA transported her to a local hospital where she later died.

A preliminary investigation indicates the victim drove up to the residence and was then shot by an unidentified shooter.

Police checked the area, but could not locate the shooter. And at this time, no suspect information is being released to the public.

Police also say the motive for the shooting is unknown and detectives are continuing their investigation.

Anderson Elementary was put on a precautionary code yellow lockdown which was later lifted just before 10am. School police are currently on school grounds and say there is no threat to the school. Children are being kept at a safe distance while police process the crime scene.
