People who want to participate in Hot August Nights first have to register at the Grand Sierra Resort, which saw long lines before doors opened Tuesday morning.
Organizers said there were about 1,500 people in line Tuesday morning, but then they called in volunteers to help move things along. "It was crazy as always. Our line went from our door clear down to the escalator. All of our participants are ready and eager to get in here and have some fun," says check-in chairperson Sue Lund.
After you register you can pick up your information packets, passes and t-shirts.
And they're not turning anyone away this year.
"We feel like we're the ambassadors because this is the first place our participants come. We hope to get them out the door happy, smiling ready to have a great week," says Lund.
To register you must have an American or European-made car from 1972 or earlier.
You also must bring your car's registration and proof of insurance.
