A Carson City district judge has rejected a proposed business tax saying it violates the single subject rule for ballot measures.
Supporters of the initiative wanted a 2% margins tax on companies making more than $1 million a year to help raise money for K-12 education.
They claimed it would bring in $800-million each year.
But shortly after the proposal was announced two months ago - a business group - the Committee to Protect Nevada Jobs - challenged it in court.
Even if the initiative had survived in court, more than 72,000 support signatures would have been needed to make the next legislature.
