On Wednesday, the Governor's Office of Economic Development approved tax abatements for two proposed Apple projects in northern Nevada.
KTVN Channel 2 News got to ask Governor Brian Sandoval about the decision. He told us it's a more than fair trade-off.
"They're going to bring jobs," he said. "They're going to make a huge investment in this community. Yes, they're getting some abatements in return, but I think we will be far better off now that we have Apple in our own backyard."
The abatements were approved in exchange for Apple's commitment to invest $400 million in the next four years, and $1 billion over 10 years.
The data center should be finished by the end of the year and create hundreds of construction jobs.
