Firefighters in Plumas County, California have lifted mandatory evacuations in the Maggie's Maple Leaf area.
But evacuations remain in effect for Highway 70 at Caribou Road to the Butt Lake Dam – and – Highway 70 from Tobin to Rush Creek, Butt Lake area, Humbug Valley and Yellow Creek area. Structure protection continues for residences/businesses around and near Bleden.
The communities of Meadow Valley, Chester, Canyon Dam, Greenville, and Susanville are not threatened nor are those to the far west including Tobin, Paradise, Jarbo Gap, Concow, etc.
The 2,541-acre Chips Fire started early Sunday morning - and is only 5% contained with full containment expected on August 15th.
About 340 personnel, including 13 hand crews, nine helicopters and numerous engines are fighting the brushfire.
Highway 89 and Seneca/Dixie Canyon Road to Butt Lake Dam also remain closed to traffic. Travelers should check Highway 70 conditions regularly by calling 800-427-ROAD or going to www.dot.ca.gov
Authorities say the fire is human-caused.
