Organ Donation Info Center Holds Open House

Posted: Updated:

A new organ donation information center celebrated Friday afternoon with an open house.

Among the gathering was a woman who knows all too well the importance of signing up to be an organ donor.

"When you wake up and you have this new liver and you realize how lucky and blessed you are to have your liver, you just, I just remember thinking you know, I want to do whatever I can do and take opportunities to help other people," says liver recipient Tammy Nichols.

The new organ donation center is open for business at 1495 Ridgeview Drive, Suite 90 in Reno. It serves as a recruitment center for volunteers as well as counseling families involved in the donation process.

"We're really the bridge in between donors and donor families and recipients on the other side waiting for a life-saving organ and tissue transplant," says John Lilley.

Their phone number is (775) 825-7703.
