More than 12,000 veterans are coming to the Biggest Little City for the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention.
Veterans started arriving Friday at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport with flags to greet them.
Veterans we talked to say it's nice to see all the community support and appreciation.
Photographer Gabby Tafola: "Do you do really feel like the community like every where you go, thanking you for your service?"
Veteran Larry Spanish: "Oh yeah, people do. People always do and I'm not used to that because I'm a Vietnam vet (crying) we never got thanked for anything (cries). We kind of got passed by."
Spanish says that's why the VFW is so close to his heart because they do everything they can to help veterans whether it's health care or a simple trip to go fishing.
The convention starts Saturday and runs through next Wednesday.
