In the wake of last November's devastating Caughlin Fire there's some good news. Today, the Reno City Council got an update on the restoration efforts.
The co-incident commander says the vegetation has already been planted in Manzanita Canyon and now they are watering and monitoring its growth.
Even so -- he says it could be years before it's fully restored.
"That could take up to three years, the actual planting and stuff has already been completed but it takes several years for some of that vegetation to come back," says Kyle West.
West says right now they are trying to come up with a written agreement with the state land conservancy so they can begin restoration work sooner - just in case another fire hits the same area.
