12 days after the Reno Fire Department and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District deconsolidated into two separate entities, both sides are still trying to hammer out a better mutual aid agreement that satisfies both sides.
Wednesday, the Reno City Council voted against sending a termination notice to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, after Washoe County rejected two changes to the agreement put forth by the city last month.
Instead the council wants to sit down with the county and discuss what can be done at a public meeting.
The city says the county appears to be open to a meeting - but no date has been set.
They're hopeful it could happen by the end of the month.
