Artown Offers Plenty for Fans of Music and Dance

Posted: Updated:

Artown will be showcasing plenty of musical talent the next few days at Wingfield Park.

Wednesday, the Black Rock Dance Company is part of Artown's dancing in the park series.

The group will perform at Wingfield Park at 8pm. They will play kaleidoscope, what they call a blend of modern jazz and contemporary dance movement pieces.

If you don't get your fill of music there, the Reno Philharmonic takes center stage at 5pm this Saturday. This year's theme is the "Pops Rock."

Two rock stars will be featured. Lakisha Jones was the fourth finalist from the sixth season of American Idol - and Rob Evans is a star from Broadway and the Transiberian Orchestra.

He will perform hits from Journey while the Reno Philharmonic plays.

"There are sponsor type tables and those are sold out now, but we have general admission starting at ten bucks," said Tim Young, president and CEO of the Reno Philharmonic. "So, you can come down with your chair, for ten buck and come into the park and see all of the fun."
