Someone 2 Know: It's My Community Store

Posted: Updated:

Jenifer Rose is an entrepreneur in every sense of the word.

You might know her from her show The Plush Life that airs on Channel 2 every Sunday at 5:30 p.m. or through a match-making and dating service she owned for five years.

Well, she is at it again. Jenifer branched out and created another business; an online one-stop-cyber-shop called It's My Community Store. The website has five major categories and thousands of items - competitively priced. The best part, however, is 10% of every purchase goes to the non-profit of your choice. During checkout you simple flag which non-profit you would like to support. "We really wanted to create something to allow businesses to support non-profits without spending any additional money," explains Jenifer.

Jenifer spent five years planning this business model. While few would dare open a business in this economy, she saw opportunity - not just for herself, but for northern Nevada. She realized non-profits, in particular, are losing their budgets and donations, so this website is her solution to help. If a business purchases all its supplies via www.itsmycommunitystore.com, it could very well mean big money for a charity in need. The program is 100% free to the non-profit or charity.

Jenifer says this business is a win-win for everyone in our community and, she adds, it is a perfect way for local entrepreneurs to give back. "As a business owner in Reno, I'll tell you honestly, if people wouldn't have supported me I wouldn't have survived, so I really think that businesses have a responsibility to support communities that support them.
